Outstanding Commitment to Service

Our community lovingly describes us as "Omnipresent" and we embrace this description with Finer humility. Omicron Gamma Zeta Chapter seems to be everywhere because we are focused on serving every facet of our community.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated has a 103 year history of service in action; from youth to seniors; college students to the homeless; and young girls to Finer Women. This history of service is the central focus of Omicron Gamma Zeta Chapter's present and future; so much so we have had a service project every month of the sorority year for the last 4 years* *and counting*.

Zetas Helping Other People Excel also known as Z-HOPE™ is the National Service Program of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated and was approved and trademarked during the 2008 National Boule.

Z-HOPE™ is a combination of interactive, holistic, and multidimensional outreach programs designed to enhance, cultivate, and empower participants to develop health-promoting lifestyle choices across their lifespan. Specific to the population groups; Women, Youth, Seniors, Men, and International Women of Color.

Within OGZ our Z-Hope initiative has logged thousands of service hours and worked alongside organizations like Santa Maria Hostel, Kipp Sunnyside, March of Dimes, Texas Woman's Hospital NICU, Houston Food Bank and that list is added to with every administration.

GET ENGAGED™ was created under the 24th International President Mary Breaux Wright and now under the direction of the 25th International President Valerie Hollingsworth Baker, GET ENGAGED™ vision is to inspire, encourage, and empower the Sisterhood to take an active role, and to raise awareness on key issues happening in the community. Also, to cultivate a culture of mutual respect among law enforcement and the elected officials who work and represent our communities.

Within OGZ we 'GET ENGAGED' in Social Action; supporting those running for office, in office, and have the ability to impact policy for equality and justice. This rewarding work has lead to work with the Texas Democratic PartyHouston Area Urban League Young Professionals, United Against Human Trafficking, Prairie View A&M University, Cypress-Fairbanks ISD and with whomever are aligned the helping us achieve justice and equality.

Created by Omicron Gamma Zeta Chapter five years ago, the annual Finer Womanhood Conference was created to address the mental, emotional, financial, and educational needs of both young and older women beginning at age 15 and beyond. Through the Finer Womanhood Conference, we seek to expose the community to the diversity and authenticity of the Finer Woman.
